Etowah County and Northeast Alabama play host to a variety of performing arts organizations. This page provides a listing of these organizations. If you are affiliated with an arts organization that is not listed here, please submit information to wallacehall@gadsdenstate.edu for inclusion.




CharACTers Entertainment
Characters Inc. is one of Northeast Alabama's premier theatre production organizations. Featuring an annual season consisting of major musicals and straight plays, Characters enthrals thousands throughout the year. Auditions Website

Etowah Youth Symphony Orchestras
Recognized nationally for their commitment to new music, the Etowah Youth Orchestras entertain large, enthusiastic crowds at concerts throughout the year. Four ensembles – the Etowah Youth Symphony Orchestra, EYS Honor Strings, Etowah Symphonic Wind Ensemble, and June Bugg Prelude Strings make up the EYO. The EYO is one of the most celebrated performing groups in Alabama. Call 256-543-2787 ext. 32 for information.

Downtown Dance Conservatory
The Downtown Dance Conservatory, located within the Mary G. Hardin Center for Cultural Arts, is dedicated to preserving the art form of dance, spreading awareness of dance education throughout the community, and has a registry of nearly two hundred students. The program is founded in classical and contemporary dance. The Downtown Dance Conservatory will be a place of endless creativity, imagination, and expression through dance. Gadsden State Music Department
The Wallace Hall Fine Arts Center is home to the Gadsden State Music Department. With the Show Band, Choral Group and the Southern Belle dancers the music department offers opportunities for seasoned performers as well as beginners music theory classes. Call 256-549-8278 for information.

Gadsden State Theatre Department
The Gadsden State Theatre Department traditionally produces two plays each year.  From the magic of Peter Pan and Cinderella to the gritty humor of Little Shop of Horrors, Gadsden State Theatre offers something for everyone. Currently, there are no scheduled auditions for the theatre department. Call 256-549-8475 for information.
